【アークナイツ】Operation Fake Waves 【危機契約#11】

個人的に待望のドッソレスステージの危機契約でした。
Fake Wavesとは人工海であるドッソレスの湖のことを指しているのかなと。
それにしても危機契約のロビーBGMは毎回本当にカッコイイです。

（訳注）

*1 the weaklinks : 弱点という意味だそうです。なかなか出てこなかったのでメモです。

*2 our heads held high : head held highが直訳で「頭を高く上げる」という意味ですが、転じて「誇り高く、堂々と」という意味もあるそうで、今回はそちらを採用しました。

*3 never say die : 弱音を吐かない、という意味だそうです。

*4 your head's been stuck high in the clouds : ぼーっとして

*5 That rocks you like a cadenza-denza : rockの意訳が多い……！ ここは後ろにcadenza(終奏)がありますので、「お前たちの終わりを奏でてるのさ」というニュアンスにしてみました。

待望のステージではあったんですが、当時は多忙で危機契約に手をつけられず、結局お見送りになってしまいました。
あの頃の悔しい気持ちをロビーBGMの和訳で供養……です。

翻訳してみたらたいへん挑発的な内容で驚いたと同時にとても愉快でした。「scare us, scare us?」など、煽るような歌い方も大胆不敵です。
……こんなに励ましてくれるのだから、次の危機契約は頑張らないとなあ、などと思いました。

公式訳はmiliさんたちから世界への呼びかけのように思われるのですが、自分で訳してみた時、ドクターがプリースティスあるいはロドスという艦に独白しているように聞こえたのが不思議でした。そのため、拙訳はアニメドクターのような口調を意識した訳としてみました。

また「grown-up」という単語については、公式訳の「大人」ではなく、「体ばかりが大きくなった人々」としています。
これはニュアンスのこだわりといいますか、「大人」と我々が口にする時、それはただ「成人したヒト」という意味だけではなく、「立派な人」「志のある人」のようなニュアンスを含む時があると思うのです。

しかし、この歌の中に登場する「grown-up」たちってそういう「大人」のニュアンスとはかけ離れた行いをしています。主張を通すために暴力を用いて、許し合うこともできず、理想で世界を血に染める。そんなものは、私たちが子どもの頃に憧れた「大人」ではない。

自分たちの行いが間違っていると知りながらもこれ以外の方法をとれない、ドクターの自虐のような思いで、「体ばかりが…」としました。
